How to Make Giant Marshmallow Peeps

See how to make Giant Marshmallow Peeps

Peeps are marshmallow treats coated with sugar.  Here in the United States they are available in stores around the Easter holiday.  When I was a child I remember having them lining my Easter basket on Easter Sunday.

I enjoy Peeps but only when they are fresh.  Some people only like peeps after they have gone stale.  I like the soft gooey marshmallow as I separate the head of the Peep from the body.  My brother loves them after they have been exposed to the air for a few days.

Whatever way you like your Peeps you will no doubtably like a giant Peep.

Ingredients (per batch):

     - 10 packets of gelatin http://amzn.to/2nu7S0E
     - 3 1/3 cups water
     - 10 cups sugar
     - 2 1/2 cups water
     - 1/2 tsp cocoa powder
     - 1/8 tsp water

Directions:

  1. Start with a large bowl and mix gelatin and water.  Let sit.
  2. In a large pot add sugar and water then mix.  Heat until it reaches 240 F.
  3. After it cools, whisk for 10-15 minutes until white and fluffy.
  4. Line a giant roast pan with colored sugar and pour fluffy mixture in it.
  5. cover with sugar.
  6. Make a half batch recipe to make the head of the Peep.
  7. Pipe and shape the head of the Peep.
  8. Cover with sugar.
  9. Decorate the eye of the Peep by mixing cocoa powder and water.
  10. Let setup in pan for at least 3 hours.
  11. Remove from pan and serve.
