Tres Leches Cake

Prior to a few weeks ago I had never heard of Tres Leches cake before.  So many people were talking about how amazing this cake was so I had to try it out for myself.  I have made many cakes on my Youtube channel and even have a cake playlist featuring most of them.

I am a big fan of moist cake so I was sure I would enjoy this cake.  Here is how I decided to make my version of a Tres Leches cake:

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup sugar
5 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups whole milk
12 oz evaporated milk
1 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup sugar
12 individual maraschino cherries

Instructions

1 Start with a medium bowl, whisk flour and baking powder.
2 In a separate large bowl, cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and mix in. Slowly add flour mixture and mix in.
3 Grease a 13 x 9 inch pan and turn batter out. Bake in oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. Then let cool completely.
4 In a medium bowl add milk, evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk. Mix well.
5 When your cake cools poke holes in it using a fork. Pour milk mixture over cake until milk seeps in.
6 For the frosting. In a large bowl, add heavy whipping cream and vanilla extract. Whisk on high slowly adding sugar until it forms stiff peaks.
7 Cover cake with frosting and top with Maraschino cherries.
