Chocolate Peppermint Patties (Halloween Treats)

Halloween is tomorrow.  Time is running out to come up with ideas on what to fix for your Halloween party.  I am here to help.

Here is another fun and easy Halloween treat to make.

Chocolate Peppermint Patties

Ingredients:

3-3/4 cups of confectionary sugar
1-1/2 tablespoons water
1-1/2 tablespoons light corn syrup
dash of salt
1-1/2 tablespoons of vegetable shortening
1 teaspoon of peppermint extract
food coloring
chocolate

Directions:

Mix confectionary sugar, water, corn syrup, salt, peppermint extract and shortening until mixture is firm and dough like.  Separate into 3 equal parts.  Add yellow food coloring to one part and kneed in.  Set aside and add orange food coloring to another part.  Leave the last part white.  Take each part separately and place between parchment and roll out to about 1/8 of an inch thick.  Start with the yellow as your base then place the orange directly on top of it, then the white.  Refrigerate for about 10 minutes.  Then use a cookie cutter to cut out circles.  Melt your chocolate and dip your cutouts in the chocolate.  Place the dipped cutouts on wax paper and refrigerate again for 10-15 minutes.

You don’t have to use food coloring, I just wanted them to be Halloween themed.

You can see how I made mine here:
