Homemade Caramel Sauce

Being able to make your very own caramel sauce is a convenient skill.  Of course it doesn’t take much skill to make your own caramel sauce be it is easy to do.  Why would you ever need to make your own sauce in this day an age of grocery stores nearby?  Well, have you ever dished out some vanilla ice cream as a late night treat and found that you needed a topping to make it a bit better?

The best part about making your own caramel sauce is being able to customize the ingredients to your liking.

Ingredients:
     - 1/2 cup brown sugar
     - 1/2 cup sugar
     - 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
     - dash salt
     - 4 tablespoons butter

Directions:
  1. In a medium pot, add brown sugar, white sugar, salt and heavy whipping cream.  Heat over medium heat while stirring until most of the sugar has dissolved.
  2. Add butter and bring to a boil for 4-5 minutes.
  3. Let it cool or use right away.  Your choice.
