Every year around this time there are loads of party’s being thrown in my neighborhood. It is of course late May and the school year is coming to an end. For some, it means school is ending forever. For those lucky few, I made a recipe to celebrate their achievements.
These sugar cookies that are shaped like little diploma’s can be customized to represent the school colors of the graduate. I used Pull-n-Peel Twizzlers to help with my decorating.
Ingredients:
- 2 3/4 cup flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup softened butter
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pull-n-Peel Twizzlers
- writing gel
Directions:
- In a medium bowl, add flour, baking soda, baking powder and mix well.
- In a large bowl, add butter and sugar then cream together. Add vanilla extract and egg then mix until well combined. Begin adding the dry ingredients a little at a time until complete.
- Roll out handful sized dough onto a baking sheet. I rolled each cookie to the size of a stick of butter.
- Bake in a 375 degree oven for 12-14 minutes.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely.
- Pull apart the Twizzlers and tie 1 strand around each cookie. Draw a squiggly line on each side of the cookie to represent a paper scroll.
I hope you enjoyed this recipe and decide to make it for yourself.
