Mountain Dew Ice Cream

Summer might be over but my love of ice cream knows no season!  The other day I was eating a bowl of vanilla ice cream and thinking to myself that I wish I had a more flavorful bowl of ice cream.  As I thought of this my brother was drinking a Mountain Dew soda.  I got the wild idea to create a Mountain Dew flavored ice cream.

After giving it a bit of thought I decided to keep the recipe simple.  Only 3 ingredients for this recipe not including the food coloring for esthetic purposes.  Of course the flavor wasn't overwhelming do to the water content in the soda.

If you make this and want the flavor to be more intense you could make a syrup from the soda by boiling out the water then mix that into the ice cream base.

Ingredients:
     - 2 cups heavy cream
     - 1-14oz can sweetened condensed milk
     - 1 cup Mtn Dew soft drink
     - (optional) green food coloring

Directions:
  1. Start by freezing a mixing bowl for at least an hour.  The colder your bowl, the better!  Add heavy cream and whisk on high until it forms stiff peaks.
  2. Fold in sweetened condensed milk.  (Don’t over mix)
  3. Fold in Mountain Dew and then add food coloring if you choose.  Place in a freezer safe, air tight bowl for at least 4-6 hours.
  4. Scoop and enjoy!

I hope you enjoyed this recipe and I hope you try it out for yourself.  If you would like to see how I made it, watch here:
