Doritos Ice Cream Cones

Recently I made a simple ice cream recipe (Mountain Dew Ice Cream) and many people commented mentioning that it would go well together with Doritos.  I even got a suggestion that I should make an ice cream cone out of Doritos.

After giving it much thought, I decided to take up the challenge make a homemade Doritos chip and turn it into an ice cream cone.  Surprisingly, when I was testing this recipe, I succeeded in getting the cone part correct on my first attempt.  I did however have to make many attempts to get my cheese flavoring right.

Once I perfected the recipe I had to fill it with none other than my Mountain Dew Ice Cream.  I have to say it was a great combination.  The two flavors went well together.

Here is what you will need:

Ingredients:
     - 6 corn tortilla's
     - 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
     - 2 tablespoons cheddar cheese powder
     - 1-2 tablespoons paprika
     - 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
     - 1/2 teaspoon salt
     - 2-3 tablespoons olive oil

     - Baking horn (cone shape molds): http://amzn.to/2drccX5

Directions:
  1. Start with a large ziplock bag.  Add parmesan cheese, cheddar cheese powder, paprika, chili powder and salt.  Zip the bag up and shake until well mixed.
  2. Brush both sides of a corn tortilla with olive oil and put it in the cheese powder bag.  Shake until the tortilla is completely covered.  Pull the tortilla out of the bag and place on a baking sheet.  Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degree F.  Watch it to be sure it doesn’t burn.
  3. If you have “baking horns” you don't need to do this step.  Using a large sheet of aluminum foil, mold into a cone shape.
  4. As soon as it comes out of the oven wrap tortilla around your cone shapes and place seam side down.  Let cool then remove the cone from the tortilla.
  5. After the cone tortilla has cooled, add ice cream and serve.

Tip:  serve your ice cream while holding if over a bowl because the bottom of the cone usually doesn’t for a complete seal.

I hope you enjoy this recipe.  If you would like to see step-by-step I made this, watch here:
