Christmas Meringues

Christmas time is a fun time for someone who loves baking.  Each year I enjoy thinking of different recipes I can make and share.  There are so many options for this holiday.  Whether it is cookies, cakes or something savory, the choices are unlimited.

This year I started my holiday baking with meringues.  I made these meringues look like snowmen and christmas trees.  I love meringues because they are so simple to make and taste great.

Ingredients:
     - 4 egg whites
     - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
     - 1 cup sugar (add 1 tablespoon at a time)
     - Melted chocolate
     - Melted orange candy melts
     - Pull-n-peel Twizzlers
     - red and green food coloring
     - Mini Reese

Directions:
  1. Start with a large bowl and add egg whites.  Whisk until it starts to fluff up.  Add vanilla extract and sugar 1 tablespoon at a time.
  2. When the mixture turns really white and it considerably more sticky it is done.  Divide mixture into 3 parts.  Color one part red another part green leave the third part white.  Put white mixture in a piping bag.  Pipe out 3 circles one on top of the other on a baking sheet to make the snowmen.
  3. Put red and green parts in individual piping bags.  Add all 3 bags into 1 large bag with a 1M tip.  Pipe small trees on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in oven for 90 minutes at 225 F.  Then turn off oven and leave in closed oven for 60 minutes.
  5. Decorate the snowman by using pull-n-peel Twizzlers as scarfs and melted candy melts as face.  Then fix a mini Resse’s as its hat.
