Christmas Snowman Ice Cream Dessert

Christmas time makes me think of snow and snowmen.  I love coming up with desserts that look like snowmen and other winter wonderland figures.  While ice cream is usually not the first type of dessert that comes to mind when thinking of Christmas recipes, it can be made into something amazing.

This recipe uses white candy melts as the chocolate snowman with an interior ice cream snowman underneath it.  When I poured the hot chocolate ganache over the snowman it melted nicely into the ice cream.

This was a delicious recipe that was both fun to make and tasty to eat.

Ingredients:
     - White chocolate or candy melts
     - water balloons
     - Milk chocolate or dark candy melts
     - Orange candy melts
     - Mini Reese's
     - ice cream
     - 1/2 cup heavy cream
     - 1/2 to 3/4 cup of chocolate chips

Directions:
  1. Start by melting white chocolate and letting it reach room temperature.  Blow up water balloons.  Roll balloons around in the melted white chocolate and place in muffin tray to hold shape.  Put in refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  2. Melt milk chocolate and fill a few circular molds for the bill of the hat and let harden in refrigerator.
  3. Melt chocolate and orange candy melts.  Remove balloons from refrigerator.  Pop balloons and remove any balloon pieces.  Decorate snowman’s face with chocolate and fix hat with melted chocolate.  Add a mini Reese in center of hat.
  4. Add 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream to a serving dish.  (best if dish was in freezer ahead of the time).  Decorate as a snowman.
  5. Heat a pan and place the chocolate snowman on it for a minute until the bottom is melted.  Cover the ice cream snowman with the chocolate snowman.
  6. Heat up heavy cream and add chocolate chips.  Stir well.  Pour over chocolate snowman until the snowman collapses on ice cream.
