Mountain Dew Twinkies






See how to make Mountain Dew Twinkies.  Everyone loves Twinkies.  I remember as a kid having a Twinkie as my snack packed in my school lunchbox.  Of course that was the original vanilla flavored Twinkies.  I wish I knew how to make Mountain Dew Twinkies back then. 

A short time ago a friend sent me a Twinkie maker.  I had to come up with something fun to make with it.  That is when I decided to make Mountain Dew Twinkies.  They were fun to make and the Twinkie Maker made it easy.  You could make these without using a Twinkie maker but it is super easy to do with it.

Ingredients:

Twinkie

  • 8 Tbs softened butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup Mountain Dew soda
Filling
  • 3 Tbs Vegetable oil
  • 3 tbs softened butter
  • 2 cups confectionary sugar
  • 1/4 cup Mountain Dew
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • Green food coloring


Directions
  1.  In a large bowl cream butter and sugar.  Mix in eggs, egg yolk and vanilla extract.
  2.  Add in flour, baking powder, salt, milk and Mountain Dew.
  3. Spray Twinkie pan with cooking spray and fill 3/4  of the way full.  Cook 3-5 minutes and let cool.
  4. For the filling in a large bowl, cream together vegetable oil and softened butter.  Add in confectionary sugar then turn mixer on high for 5 minutes.
  5. Next, add in Mountain Dew and light corn syrup.  Mix in green food coloring.
  6. Put filling in provided piping bag and fill each Twinkie.
