Have you ever wanted to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich better or maybe top toast with a different kind of spread? Turning a famous soft drink into jelly is the perfect way to do this.
A few months ago I made Mountain Dew soda into a jelly. This was lots of fun to do. I have never tried making a jelly recipe before but I figured I would give it a shot. It might seem like lots of sugar but Jelly, wether its Mountain Dew or fruit jelly, has lots of sugar in it.
If you would like to see step-by-step how I made this recipes, watch here:
Ingredients
- 4 cups Mountain Dew soda
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 pouch Sure-Jel
- 4 cups sugar
Directions
- Start by adding Mountain dew and lemon juice to a large pot and bring to a boil for 5 minutes.
- Turn off heat and stir in Sure-Jel and sugar. Bring to a boil for 2 minutes. Turn off heat and let cool a bit before putting it in jars.
- Fill mason jars with jelly and screw on sterilized lids.
- Place jars in a large pot with water that covers the whole jars. Boil for 10 minutes and check that the jars are sealed.
- Let cool to room temperature and serve.
