If your like me, you love to bake for the holidays. Cookies, brownies and pies are only a few
things that are fun to make and eat. I
really enjoy trying to find new things to make from old ingredients. Instead of making Rice Krispies treats using
Rice Krispie cereal, try to make them using Oreo cookies. They taste great and your friends and family
will love them. You can easily shape
these treats into shapes for the holidays.
Ingredients:
- 1 package of Oreo cookies
- 1-10oz package of marshmallows
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- Black food coloring (optional)
Directions:
Prepare the Oreo cookies by placing them into a large
ziplock bag and crushing them. Set aside
to use in a later step.
Start by melting butter in a large pot over medium heat
until melted. Add marshmallows and stir
until melted and creamy. Turn off heat
and add food coloring if desired. Add
crushed Oreo’s to the melted marshmallows.
Stir until completely covered.
While still warm, form into lumpy shapes with your hands and place on a
non-stick surface. (tip: spray cooking
spray on your hands to avoid sticking)
Let edible coal harden and serve.
This recipe will soon become a holiday favorite for your
family. Kids love fun foods like this
and it is the perfect contrast to traditional holiday favorites. If you wish, you can substitute Rice Krispies
for the Oreo’s. Either way, their great!
