Glowing Kool-Aid Ice Cubes

Are you looking for a cool idea for a kids drink?  Look no farther.  Make these Kool-Aid Glowing ice cubes for your kids to add to any drink.  These are easy to make and if you want them to glow under a black light, just add tonic water.  Quinine from the tonic water will illuminate under black light.  One tip…keep the colors light if you wish for the cubes to glow brighter.

Ingredients:
  • 3/4 cup of tonic water
  • 3/4 cup of water
  • I package of Kool-Aid
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • Sprite or drink of choice

Directions:
  1. Add sugar, Kool-Aid, tonic water and water to a medium container.
  2. Mix until sugar and Kool-Aid dissolve completely.
  3. Pour into an ice cup tray
  4. Place in freezer for a few hours or overnight
  5. Remove ice cubes from try and place in a cup of Sprite
  6. Turn out all the lights and turn on a black light to show the glowing of the ice cubes.

*Note*
You can make these without the tonic water if you wish.  Just use 1 1/2 cups of regular water instead.  Tonic water has a bitter taste so if you don’t care about the glowing this is a good option.

The best part about this recipe is that it is fun.  Use as many different flavors as you wish.  I used 4 flavors and as the ice melted in my Sprite, the drink changed from a lemon lime drink to a fruit punch drink.
