Reese's Peanut Butter Cake

If you are like me, just the word Reese’s sparks a craving for something sweet.  I have made many different recipe’s using Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces but after seeing a picture of a Reese’s cake on the internet, I had to make one.

Ingredients:
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (or make your own homemade)
  • some mini Reese’s and regular Reese’s cups
Frosting
  • 2 cups of soften butter
  • 2 cups of creamy peanut butter
  • 4 cups confectionary (icing) sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3-4 tablespoons milk
Gnash
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 cups of dark chocolate
  • 1/4 cup peanut butter
Directions:
  1. Bake 2 - 8inch cakes and let cool.
Frosting
  1. In a mixer, cream butter.
  2. Add peanut butter until well combined.
  3. Add confectionary sugar and mix well.
  4. Add vanilla extract and mix.
  5. Add milk 1 tablespoon at a time until it reaches a pipe able consistency.
Gnash
  1. Heat heavy whipping cream for 2 minutes.
  2. Pour over chocolate and peanut butter in a medium bowl and let sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Mix until all the chocolate has melted (using a whisk will help)
  4. Let sit until it reaches a thick consistency.  (place in refrigerator for 30 minutes if you are in a hurry)
Decorate
  1. Place 1st cake on a serving tray.
  2. Cover with about a 1 inch layer of frosting.
  3. Place 2nd cake on top of the layer of frosting.
  4. Cover with most of the remaining frosting. (Be sure to leave some frosting for piping rosettes.
  5. Cover the cake with the gnash working from the middle outwards and let harden.
  6. Put remaining frosting in a piping bag and pipe rosettes on top of cake.
  7. Decorate with Reese’s candy and enjoy!
